Spain

Spain is one of the most popular countries in Europe with a variety of places to visit. From the banana-filled Canary Islands to the cultural cities on the mainland. There’s something for everyone in Spain.

We lived in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria for two months and we spent our time hiking, visiting charming Spanish towns and chilling at the beach (whilst working too). We also visited Tenerife!

Although some areas in Spain are flooded with resorts, there are still many towns and neighbourhoods that feel local. If you visit off-peak you’ll find the underrated hidden gems! Explore our Spain travel guides:

Planning a trip to Spain

Is Spain vegan-friendly? Yes! Barcelona is the country’s vegan capital whilst Madrid offers great options too. We lived in Gran Canaria for two months and cooked most of the time but there were quite a few vegan options around the city of Las Palmas. We’ve heard that most resorts don’t have the best vegan food, so ask for recommendations beforehand.

Is Spain budget-friendly? Spain can be budget-friendly in ways, but it’s not a cheap country to travel in Europe. Book accommodation in advance and avoid eating at tourist restaurants for the best prices.
